About Lorri Connor

Mother. Teacher. Neighbor. Advocate.
Candidate for Sandy Springs City Council District 1.

Meet Lorri

Lorri Connor, a retired American History and Civics teacher of more than 30 years, has lived in Sandy Springs for 16 years. She is not a career politician—she is a neighbor, an educator, and an advocate who believes government should work for everyday people.

A Life of Service and Teaching

Lorri Connor is a retired teacher with more than 30 years of experience teaching American History and Civics. Throughout her career, she inspired thousands of students to understand their rights, embrace civic responsibility, and participate in democracy. Beyond the classroom, Lorri dedicated her time to supporting children and teens facing bullying, even serving as a guest panelist on several national television programs addressing bullying and teen suicide.

For more than a decade, Lorri has been active in local and national politics, working to strengthen communities through engagement, advocacy, and public service. Now, as a 15-year resident of Sandy Springs, she is running for City Council in District 1 to bring the same commitment and energy to her neighbors.

Why I’m Running

Lorri’s priorities reflect the needs of everyday families. She is deeply committed to improving school safety, supporting teachers by advocating for more school support staff, and creating a Family Recreation Center that can serve as a hub for after-school programs, veterans, and seniors. She also stands firmly with homeowners, pledging to keep the millage rate down and ensure that rising property taxes do not force residents out of their homes. At the same time, she supports municipal actions that keep Sandy Springs affordable for everyone—so that all who contribute to the life of this city can continue to call it home.

  • Safe Schools & Teacher Support – Advocate for school safety improvements and more support staff for educators.
  • Family Recreation Center – Create a hub for after-school programs, veterans, and seniors.
  • Protect Homeowners – Keep property taxes affordable so residents aren’t forced out of their homes.
  • Revitalize District 1 – Partner with the National Park Service to transform the Chattahoochee Riverfront into a regional destination for family recreation and local business.

She believes District 1 is full of missed opportunities. Too much commercial space sits empty and abandoned, while the area’s greatest natural asset—the Chattahoochee River at Island Ford Park—remains underutilized. Lorri envisions partnering with the National Park Service to make District 1 a regional destination, attracting restaurants, sporting goods shops, and recreation-based businesses. Her goal is to make Sandy Springs a place where families can hike, kayak, grill, and enjoy the river together while strengthening the local economy.

Lorri Connor is not a career politician—she is a teacher, a neighbor, and a community advocate. She is ready to show up for District 1 and work to make Sandy Springs more affordable, more connected, and more vibrant for everyone.
